Queens Road | The Evolving Family Home

A family home designed to balance calm and character, bringing different tastes together through a more connected, layered and liveable design.

This project began with a deeply personal brief: to create a restorative loft bedroom where two busy professionals could retreat from the pace of everyday life. From there, the work evolved into a wider transformation of the home, shaped around a family with different needs, different rhythms, and different design instincts. One was drawn to softness, calm and ease, while the other wanted bolder, more characterful moments. Rather than smoothing those differences away, the design process focused on bringing them into balance. Room by room, the house has become more expressive, more connected and more supportive of daily life.

Now, the next chapter is unfolding in the open-plan heart of the home, where the layout has been completely reimagined using the house’s heritage and architectural character as the starting point. By moving the kitchen to the opposite side of the room, the design creates a stronger sense of flow, clearer zoning, and a more natural relationship between cooking, gathering, relaxing and garden life. The result is a home that holds both peace and personality — designed not just to look beautiful, but to support the people living within it.

The open-plan transformation is currently being implemented, with completed photography to follow.
