Queens Road | A Home That Holds Real Life
A 1923 Victorian semi reimagined into an open-plan home with clear definition, creative expression and calm support for everyday life.
Queens Road is Carole Crowe’s own home, a 1923 Victorian semi transformed over time into a house that supports real life in all its complexity.
What began as a series of small, draughty, disconnected rooms became something far more considered: an open-plan home with clearly defined zones, a kitchen at its heart, spaces for work, homework, music, gathering and rest, and a strong sense of identity running through every room.
Living in the house before renovating it shaped the entire project. It gave time for its rhythms to become clear, for the limitations of the original layout to reveal themselves, and for a more thoughtful vision to emerge. The result is a home that feels open but grounded, expressive but liveable, and deeply connected to the people it holds.
Art, colour and collected pieces are woven throughout, giving the house a sense of identity that feels personal rather than styled. Every room reflects a layered way of living, from lively social spaces that work beautifully for parties and connection, to quieter rooms that feel cocooning, restorative and calm. This is a home designed not just to look good, but to grow with the life unfolding inside it.
